Donal Buckley - CEO & Chairman

Donal Buckley is a CEO with 11 years experience as a project developer in the clean-tech biomass sector. Having developed projects in the UK, Ireland and Eastern Europe, Donal successfully grew his last company to a leading project development company in the anaerobic digestion and gasification fields. As CEO he listed the company on the AIM market on the LSE in 2008. The company signed very significant Joint Venture contracts with project valued at over £80 million, with £250m new projects in the pipeline. He sold out of this company to create Globomass. Previous to this he was a manager with SWS, an Irish company specialising in biomass, wind energy and business services. (sold for €600 million in 2010). He was educated in University College Dublin and Stanford University Graduate School of Business California.

Alan Gilbert- COO & Director of Finance

Alan has over 10 years’ experience in the renewable energy sector, particularly in the area of biomass. From 2006 to 2011, Alan worked with an AIM listed plc company that specialised in the biomass sector, developing projects to generate electricity and heat. While there Alan established an anaerobic digestion division. He was also directly involved in and responsible for a number AD projects, bringing them through the sales process, into planning, permitting, establishing feedstock supplies and prepared for financing. Alan is very skilled in company operations, human resources, management structure, lines of reporting and communication, traceability and accountability within a company. Alan also spent 9 years in the food industry, working with the global food giant Kerry Group plc (turnover €5.8bn 2014).

Bryan A. Train - Chief International Business Development & CFO USA

Bryan has extensive international experience within project finance, capital markets and industry. Prior to joining the Globomass, he acted as an advisor on project finance and funding options to the company for both developed and emerging markets.  Bryan was a Managing Director of the Worsham Group, a family office focused on private investments in real estate. He was a co-founder and director of Asha Zuri Participacoes, which funded the development of 3,500 low income units in South Eastern Brazil.  Bryan has also held executive positions at Coloplast, a maker of healthcare products, and the International Business Group at GMAC’s Rescap mortgage lending platform. He began his career in the accounting department of DuPont’s subsidiary in Spain.  Bryan has been a keynote speaker at a number of international events in Europe & the Middle East, & holds an MSc in Logistics, Trade and Finance from Cass Business School & is an honors graduate of the European Business School where he studied International Business and German.

Thomas Spangler - Executive Board Member, USA 

Mr. Spangler is a former senior Department of Defense official and electrical engineer. Tom is an entrepreneur, startup investor and advisor to multiple defense, aerospace, and investment concerns. He is the author of the article “A Pentagon Energy Plan” and was the founder of CleanBay Renewables prior to the Globomass involvement.  He is well versed in U.S. State and Federal Government Programs related to the Renewables Sector and continues to drive the firms expansion in the U.S. Market.  Tom is also a principal of Osprey View, a Game monitoring / land management geographical information service using multiple classes of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).  He is also a principal of Spangler Strategic Advisors, a community development venture capital fund that invests (debt and equity) and provides technical assistance to early- and mid-stage small businesses expecting triple-bottom-line returns (increased employment, positive environmental impacts, and moderate return on investment).  Tom holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Jason Levine - Chief Development & Administration, USA

Jason is a growth stage veteran with operating experience includes roles of Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel, and senior corporate development executive. Jason also has extensive venture capital and investment banking experience having managed Boston University’s Community Technology Fund venture capital portfolio, Friedman, Billings, Ramsey’s merchant banking portfolio, and having structured over a billion dollars of structured finance transactions while at Tucker Anthony and Merrill Lynch.  Jason holds a BA in Psychology from Wesleyan University, an MBA from the University of Virginia – Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and a JD (Law) from the University of Virginia School Law School.

Shawn Freitas - Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Freitas has professional experience with a variety of organizations related to petroleum and renewable fuel/chemical production. In his most recent role he worked at TRI, owner of the largest Fischer Tropsch biorefinery in North America and currently building the world’s first municipal solid waste (MSW) to jet fuels plant. He has a doctorate focused on biomass chemistry and considerable experience with both lab and commercial scale biomass & waste conversion technologies as well as the associated methods & instrumentation required for their analysis. He is responsible for the development of a wide and growing selection of bioenergy & biofuels educational materials meant to improve communication between the various stakeholders involved in these projects. Shawn also has a background in project management and has demonstrated leadership and innovation in this field, expanding and improving earned value management methodologies for engineering & science and implementing them on major EPC projects.

Ana Z. Karic Ljesar - Chief Business Development Eastern Europe & Operations Support

Ana’s career has spanned a wide range of fields internationally including telecommunications, media, real estate and import/export. Prior to joining Globomass, Ana was Managing Director of B&S Export-Import based in Vienna buying and selling various goods and services. Ana also worked as a Project Manager for Arthur D. Little in Belgrade where she played a key role in performing due diligence and developing the international tender process for Mobtel. Prior to this, she was a Manager for strategy and planning at Mobtel, where she participated in negotiations and binding contracts between Mobtel and other telecommunications providers such as Ericsson, Siemens and two biggest Chinese telecommunications companies, Huawei and ZTE. She was also founder and director of J.N.A Europe Limited in London, where she dealt with the buying and selling of marble, granite, furniture, telecommunications equipment and media in the UK, Austria, Italy as well as Serbia. Ana studied at the European Business School London where she earned a BA honors degree in International Business with German and Italian, as well as an MA degree in Entrepreneurial Management. She speaks Serbian, English, German, Italian and basic Russian and was added to the elite list of  “Who’s who of Britain’s Youngest Directors” in 2009

Carlo Babini - Chief Profit Improvement Programmes

Carlo's corporate background started with DuPont de Nemours in Switzerland where he worked as an analyst. He went on to the Bacardi Martini company where he worked in management reporting, ALCOA (aluminium company of America) acting as a plant controller. Carlo also worked with IATA (International Air Transport Association) where he worked in the Project Management Organisation as a program manager. His key strengths include business development, process improvement and project management. Carlo also has significant experience in management practices for large multi-nationals having implemented and managed such processes. He is a graduate in International Business and Management from the European Business School in London.

Dean Roberts - Chief of Development Asia

Mr Roberts is a highly experienced executive with extensive cross-border transaction experience throughout Asia Pacific. Dean was most recently a Director of One Asia Group, a corporate finance advisory firm assisting companies in mergers and acquisitions, capital raises and other strategic initiatives. He has held executive positions within Companies at various stages of growth within roles that have included provision of financial solutions, financial management, business development, consultancy and technical advisory. Dean has managed and delivered projects and transactions throughout Asia Pacific, completing on projects and transactions totaling more US$ 800 million throughout his career. Dean holds an MBA in investment and Finance,  is a holder of Prince 2 –  “ Projects in Controlled Environment “ and is currently also studying for the CIMA qualification.

Agostino Marcon – Chief Strategy Officer

Agostino Marcon is an international executive with 30 years of experience. Building on the foundation of a long career in Finance (Controller and Director), Agostino evolved into Procurement, General Management, Product Management and Strategy. In Director functions since 1995 with multinational corporations and then with an international organization, Agostino has supervised large multicultural teams with global worldwide responsibility.
Agostino worked with Olivetti (Controller and CFO), FIAT (Finance Director) and IATA-International Air Transport Association (Director Procurement and Administration, Director Financial Services, Director Products), where he also supervised global industry projects involving the entire airlines community. Agostino studied Business and Administration at La Sapienza-Italy, Strategic Finance at IMD-Switzerland and General Management at Harvard.
